Information Sessions
Defence for Children International -Greece promotes the due implementation of the Right to Information (Article 17 of the CRC).
DCIG runs information sessions to refugee children living in the regions DCIG is present (Athens, Lesvos, Crete) with the purpose of informing them about their rights, the asylum legal procedures and any durable legal option available to them. Additionally, the information session may be followed by legal support for the children who wish to be offered our services.
The delivery of these information’s sessions is of great importance since children are not aware of their rights such as their right to legal support, their right to education, their right to have a safe shelter and their right to family reunification. In absence of appropriate information unaccompanied children run the risk to stay invisible and exposed to sexual and financial exploitation.
